In previous posts I have mentioned making money online with a site called Adf.ly, and in this post I'll be showing you 8 ways to make money using this Adf.ly.

Twitter

Twitter is a place where people are constantly sharing/sending links back and forth, but not only that, these messages are public so potentially thousands of people could be seeing your links. Why not shorten them with adf.ly and make some extra cash?

Incoming site traffic

Using adf.ly's site entry script you can easily earn cash every time a user enters your site. But be careful, some people find these ads to be an obstruction and will not appreciate it. Outgoing site traffic

To make money from your out going traffic you can use adf.ly's full page script. It automatically changes the links on your site to paid links, and you can control what links are included or exclude by editing the code. Forums

Forums are a great place to start earning money with adf.ly. If the forum allows placing links within your signature, why not link to something interesting using your adf.ly links? Could be something like 'Click Here for Funniest video ever!!!' or a banner for your blog or social pages. If you answer questions a lot and you frequently leave source URLs or link out to other content, you could make money from them with adf.ly framed ads (if allowed). Framed ads are less intrusive so wont bother users as much. You could even place one of adf.ly's referral banners in your Sig and try and get some sign ups to earn even more.

Youtube videos

You tube is viewed by millions, so it is a great place to advertise. Leaving a link to your site or other content in your videos description is a great way of driving traffic back to you. Again, you could monetize this stream of visitors with adf.ly's paid links.

Emails and Newsletters

You've probably got the idea by now, placing your links in the footer of your emails is a great way of getting your URLs out there and earning cash. You could place something like 'Wanna see something cool?' in the footer and link to something cool or 'Support me by visiting my blog here...' and place your link. The more interesting the content the more likely people are to click your links and the more money you will make.

Blog Images

Instead of having your blog images linked direct to the full image, link it through adfly. People are always clicking images to either expand them to see them better or by accident. You could take advantage of this to increase revenue, although I advise you use framed ads for this, it will annoy less people.

Referrals

Adf.ly offers a referral program, so you can make some extra cash by getting others to sign up and they can make cash to. It can be a little tricky to get people to sign up at times, but its a great way to make money online without shortening links and without a site. Monetising Outbound Links With Adf.ly

Outbound links are links that direct/send your visitors away from your page or site, this can be both a good and a bad thing. There is different options on whether or not to link out. Some think that you leak and lose PR by linking to others and they tend not to link out, others (like me) think that linking out helps to provide more information to users and also direct visitors to useful content. Others, don't really think about it or care.

One thing I know for sure is that outbound links can be little gems when it comes to making money online from your site.

Monetising outbound Links with Adf.ly

To monetise our links we are going to be using Adf.ly, a link shortening service that pays.

Adf.ly have a few useful little ad scripts, that automatically convert links to paid links.
They mainly direct visitors through 2 types of ads, Interstitial or Framed Banner so it would be a good idea to test out these types of links before proceeding. You can sign up to Adf.ly for free here

Full page script with exclusions

The script we need is the Adf.ly full page script. It is used to automatically change all site links to paid links. We don't want this, we want just our outbound links, not site links to be monetized but that's cool, we can just configure it. The full page script allows you to exclude or include certain URLs, domains or pages by simply adding them to the list.
Adf.ly provide instructions on their site, and it is very simple to use so please sign up and check them out. Don't worry, its free and only takes a couple of minutes.

What to exclude or include

Personally I don't think its a great idea to be monetising your internal links with Adf.ly, so add your site domain/URL to the exclusion script, this way only links to other sites will be monetised. Its also a good idea to exclude other URLs that you don't want an ad to show on depending on needs.

What type of ads should be used?

This depends on what type of content you offer and how annoying you want to be to your visitors. Using framed banner ads is less intrusive and allows visitors to view content directly where as interstitial makes visitors have to wait and skip an ad before seeing the content which can be very annoying.
I would say use framed ads as they are less annoying, but they pay much much less so have a think about it. Also, check out this post...
