5 Reasons Why Affiliate Campaigns Fail

Affiliate marketing is one of the most common and most popular ways of making money online and thousands of people are making great profits each and every day. But, the sad truth is that the percentage of people who actually make a nice living from affiliate marketing is quite small and the amount that fail is huge. That's not to say that achieving a decent income is impossible, because its definitely possible. Sometimes all it takes is a few little tweaks to breathe some life back into a dying campaign, but first you need to identify the problems. Here are 5 reasons why affiliate campaigns fail...

Lack Of Planning

This is where most fail from the start. Planning is key to the success of any campaign. Without a plan things can quickly go down hill when unexpected problems arise. Having clear goals and a time frame will get a campaign up and running quickly and with minimal hiccups.

Poor Quality Advertising Material

When looking at some of the material people use to advertise affiliate products, all that goes through my head is SPAM, SCAM, SHAM. Poor quality design and bad sales copy is a real turn off to a potential buyer, especially when they've seen the same thing copied and pasted 100 times around the net on dodgy looking domains. First impressions count, so make it the best you can.

Bad Product Choice

Choosing the right product is vital. Many people go ahead and try to promote anything and everything they can get their hands on without even thinking. Shoving low quality products in peoples faces and expecting them to buy it isn't gonna make anyone money. You need to know your target audience and promote products that suit their needs. Rule of thumb, if you wont buy it for yourself then don't sell it to your customers.

Not Enough Time

Time is something we could all do with a little more of, and it can be hard to create spare time in our hectic lives. Coming home from work then starting your next shift at your computer isn't the most pleasant experience. Planning and executing a successful campaign is very time consuming and initially many don't think about how they will make the time around there other obligations. Creating a schedule or setting aside a few hrs a day can make all the difference, but if you haven't got enough time, you haven't got enough time.

Lack of patience

One of the biggest campaign killers is lack of patience. Obtaining a payout within days is near to impossible unless you're part of a large network or you have a huge mailing list, and many quit before they've started because they cant see the earnings accumulating. It can take several months before you see even a small return on your efforts but you have to stick at it or you're just wasting time.

This post wasn't written to put anyone off affiliate marketing but instead highlight a few details that some might not take into consideration. Have a look at your own campaign, are any of these points relevant to you?
